For Ghanaian singer S3fa, her journey into music started in a simple and unexpected way while she was still a student.
There was no planned audition or record label meeting. Instead, everything began with an Instagram message she received while sitting in a lecture hall.
S3fa recalled receiving a DM from rapper and entrepreneur D-Black, who told her he had seen a video of her singing and was interested in having her join a new record label he was planning with DJ Breezy.
At first, S3fa was not sure whether the message was genuine. She showed it to her lecturer, who checked D-Black’s verified account and confirmed that the message was from him.
With encouragement from her mother, S3fa decided to take the opportunity and visit the studio.
Her first experience at the studio was not easy. She walked into a room filled with artistes she did not know and quickly became nervous. She was also the only woman among them, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
S3fa was later asked to record a song with Epixode. Although she was new to the professional studio environment, the experienced artistes around her helped her relax and gain confidence.
What started as a simple studio introduction soon turned into an unofficial audition. Her vocal ability impressed those around her, and discussions began about the possibility of signing her.
That experience eventually marked the beginning of S3fa’s professional music career.
Looking back, the singer remains grateful to D-Black for the opportunity that helped introduce her to the music industry, even as she brings her time with his record label to an end.
