Three Team Ghana Athletes Reportedly Missing After 2026 Commonwealth Games

Three Ghanaian athletes have reportedly gone missing from the Team Ghana camp after the end of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Games officially ended on Sunday, but officials of the Ghana delegation are yet to confirm the whereabouts of the three athletes, who are said to have left the team’s base.

The athletes reported missing are para athlete Zinabu Issah, boxer Daniel Plange and boxer Precious Akai Nettey.

Zinabu Issah won a bronze medal for Ghana in the women’s shot put event, while Daniel Plange also claimed bronze in the men’s 90+kg boxing competition.

Plange lost 0-5 to Northern Ireland’s William John McCartan in his final bout of the tournament.

Precious Akai Nettey began her campaign with a second-round stoppage victory over Fiji’s Elijah Qiokata at the SSE Hydro.

However, her medal hopes ended in the quarter-finals after she lost by unanimous decision to Mauritius’ Merven Clair.

Officials of Team Ghana say they are currently unaware of the athletes’ whereabouts and are making efforts to locate them.

Team Ghana competed at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a 40-member athlete contingent and finished the competition with two bronze medals.
