Prophet Opambour and Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah Clash After Ghana’s 2026 World Cup Exit

Ghana Black Star’s exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup has sparked a heated public feud between Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah and Prophet Opambour, with both men exchanging strong words after the Black Stars were knocked out of the tournament.

The controversy started before the World Cup when Ghana’s Sports Minister, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, visited Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah’s church to seek prayers for the Black Stars.

During the church service, Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah prayed for the national team and told the Sports Minister, “Go and bring your testimony.” He also declared that Ghana would “reach where they have never reached in the World Cup before.”

As Ghana won matches and qualified from the group stage, many of the prophet’s followers believed his prayers had helped the team. The prophet also celebrated the team’s progress and thanked God for answering the prayers.

Before Ghana’s Round of 32 match against Colombia, Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah called on his church members to fast and pray on Friday, July 3, 2026.

According to him, the church should pray for God’s protection over the Black Stars and ask for divine help ahead of the important knockout game.

The match was played in the early hours of Saturday, July 4, 2026. Ghana lost 1-0 to Colombia, ending the country’s World Cup campaign.

After the defeat, many Ghanaians went back to Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah’s earlier prophecy.

Ghana’s best performance at the FIFA World Cup was in 2010, when the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals. Because of that, many people understood the prophet’s words to mean Ghana would go beyond the quarter-finals and reach at least the semi-finals.

Since Ghana was eliminated in the Round of 32, some critics questioned the prophecy and argued that it did not happen as many people expected.

Soon after Ghana’s exit, Prophet Opambour reacted during one of his church services.

In videos shared widely on social media, Opambour criticised Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah and described him as a “false prophet.” He also used insulting words, including calling him a “stupid fool” and a “fake prophet,” while mockingly referring to him as “Kyei-Chimpanzee.”

His comments quickly went viral and generated mixed reactions online.

Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah also responded to the criticism. According to videos circulating online, he described Prophet Opambour as a “witchcraft prophet” while rejecting the accusations made against him.

The exchange has become one of the biggest religious stories in Ghana since the Black Stars’ World Cup exit.

The disagreement did not end with the two prophets. Supporters of both religious leaders have taken to Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and X to defend their leaders while attacking the other side.

The online exchanges have led to thousands of comments, videos, and live discussions, with many Ghanaians sharing different opinions about the prophecy and the responses that followed.

The incident has divided public opinion. Some people believe Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah’s prophecy failed because Ghana did not go beyond its previous World Cup record.

Others believe prophecies should not always be judged only by football results and have continued to support the prophet.

For now, the debate continues, with many Ghanaians closely following the reactions from both religious leaders and their supporters.

As of now, neither Prophet Opambour nor Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah has indicated that they intend to end the public exchange, and the discussion remains one of the most talked-about topics on Ghanaian social media.
