NkrumahFest 2026 has officially been launched at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra to begin activities marking the 117th birth anniversary of Ghana’s founding President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
The launch took place on Friday, July 31, 2026, under the theme “Freedom and Justice.” It also marked the start of the Journey to Nkroful, a nationwide celebration of the life, vision and legacy of Dr. Nkrumah.

The event brought together government officials, traditional leaders, Pan-Africanists, students and admirers of Dr. Nkrumah to reflect on his role in Ghana’s independence, nation-building and the African liberation movement.
Organisers said this year’s celebration aims to encourage people to uphold the values of freedom, justice, national unity and Pan-Africanism, which were key to Dr. Nkrumah’s leadership.
As part of the celebration, participants will take part in the symbolic Journey to Nkroful, the birthplace of Dr. Nkrumah in the Western Region, where more activities will be held to honour his legacy and vision for Ghana and Africa.
The countdown to NkrumahFest 2026 has officially begun.
