The Weija Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting incident at Tuba that claimed the life of a 54-year-old man and left his wife injured.
The police received information that a man and his wife had been shot at an estate and immediately dispatched a team to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found Rahman Mohammed and his wife, Christiana Fosu, with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment.
The victims were rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija, where Rahman Mohammed was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife was later referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment and is currently on admission, responding to treatment.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
During interrogation, suspect Adams Adder Almeida allegedly admitted to shooting Mohammed and his wife. According to the police, he said he was motivated by his belief that the deceased had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless”, which he claimed had affected him mentally.
Following the alleged confession, Adams led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was retrieved. The weapon was allegedly concealed beneath the wall drop of his brother, Bala Bilyon.
Police investigations established that Adams Adder Almeida and Bala Bilyon live together in the same room at Tuba.
Adams also allegedly told investigators that the pistol had been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon. He later led the police to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but he was not found at home.
The police said efforts are ongoing to locate Gideon to assist with investigations, while Bala Bilyon has been arrested and is being interrogated.
The arrests were made with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) as investigations into the shooting continue.
