The management of dancehall musician Shatta Wale has reacted to the incident that disrupted ShattaFest UK on Saturday, saying it is deeply saddened by the crowd crush that led to the cancellation of the event.
In a statement signed by the Shatta Movement Empire, management said the decision to cancel the show was made with a heavy heart, adding that the safety of everyone at the event was the top priority.
“Following reports of a serious incident outside the venue, the difficult decision was made to cancel the event,” the statement said.
“Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of every single person who came to celebrate music, unity, and love,” it added.
The management said it had received reports of injuries and claims that lives had been lost but was still waiting for official confirmation from the relevant authorities.
“We are deeply saddened by the reports of injuries and the alleged loss of lives,” the statement said.
“While we await official confirmation from the relevant authorities regarding all the facts, our thoughts and prayers remain with the individuals involved, their families, their friends, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking incident.”
The team said Shatta Wale has always stood for the people and that his shows are meant to bring joy and create memorable experiences for fans.
Management also appealed to the public and the media to avoid speculation while investigations continue.
The statement further thanked emergency responders, security personnel and venue staff for their quick response to the incident.
It also expressed appreciation to fans who travelled from different parts of the UK for their patience and understanding during the difficult situation.
