Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi, football legend Abedi Pele and members of the Ayew family were among the personalities who joined Asamoah Gyan and his family to mourn his late father, George Gyan Mensah.
The one-week celebration was held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the New Gbawe Cluster of Schools AstroTurf.
Family members, friends, football legends and other sympathisers gathered to show their support for the Gyan family during the difficult period.
Abedi Pele attended the ceremony with his sons, Dede Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Rahim Ayew to extend their condolences to Asamoah Gyan and his brother, Baffour Gyan.
Dede Ayew shared an emotional moment with Asamoah Gyan as he warmly embraced his former Black Stars teammate and friend.
Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah was also at the ceremony to mourn with the Gyan family.
GFA President Kurt Okraku also attended the gathering and signed the book of condolences in memory of the late George Gyan Mensah.
The ceremony brought together several well-known personalities from Ghana’s football community who came to support Asamoah Gyan and his family.
