The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has expressed its condolences to former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, his brother Baffour Gyan and their family following the death of their father, George Gyan Baffour Mensah.

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, joined the Gyan family and sympathisers at the one-week observance held on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The Minister said it was important for the Ministry and the wider sporting community to support the Gyan family during their time of grief.
He also acknowledged the contribution of the late George Gyan Baffour Mensah as a father whose guidance and sacrifices helped shape the football careers of his sons.
On behalf of the Ministry and the sporting fraternity, Kofi Adams signed the book of condolence in memory of the late George Gyan Baffour Mensah.

He prayed for strength and comfort for Asamoah Gyan, Baffour Gyan and the entire family as they mourn their loss.
The Minister also wished the late George Gyan Baffour Mensah eternal rest.
