Ghana’s Black Satellites have been knocked out of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship after failing to win a match in the tournament.
The four-time African champions ended their Group B campaign with a 0-0 draw against Togo on Sunday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
Ghana went into the match needing a win to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive after losing 4-2 to Nigeria in their opening game and drawing 1-1 with Burkina Faso.
Despite creating chances, the Black Satellites could not score against Togo, and the match ended goalless.
Maxwell Konadu’s side finished third in Group B with two points from three matches. The team scored three goals and ended the tournament without a single victory.
Although Ghana’s campaign has come to an end, the Black Satellites have already qualified for the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations because Ghana will host the tournament.
The competition will be part of activities to mark Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary.
Following the early exit, attention is expected to turn to preparations for next year’s tournament, as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) assesses the team and technical staff ahead of the competition on home soil.
