Event Factory Project Coordinator Ethan Lawrence has apologised to patrons who faced difficulties redeeming their tickets at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic ’26 concert, admitting that poor communication contributed to the challenges.
Mr Lawrence explained that the original arrangement required ticket holders to collect their wristbands at designated sales outlets before arriving at the venue, where their tickets would be scanned for entry.
However, he acknowledged that the information was not communicated clearly enough to patrons. As a result, many arrived at the venue without redeeming their tickets and had to find their way to the designated redemption points.
He said the situation had highlighted areas that needed improvement, particularly in informing patrons about ticketing procedures before major events.
“I think the communication didn’t go around enough or resonate well. So, as typical of us as event attendees, we always have the opinion that we need to get to the gates for things to be done,” he said.
Mr Lawrence noted that eventgoers in Ghana were traditionally accustomed to buying tickets at venue gates or using physical tickets. He added that systems involving online engagement, pre-registration and advance ticket redemption were still developing.
According to him, the challenges should serve as a learning opportunity for organisers working to develop more efficient systems for large entertainment events in Ghana.
He acknowledged that patrons had legitimate concerns and explained that although organisers aimed for smooth event execution, challenges could still occur, even at established entertainment centres.
“We appreciate it very much. It’s always a test case, a learning case for us so that we build systems to support such events,” he said.
He added, “If there are mistakes or challenges, we sincerely apologise for that. It’s part of the working document for subsequent editions.”
The apology follows complaints from patrons who experienced difficulties redeeming their tickets to access the concert.
The organisers say the experience will guide improvements in ticketing communication and systems for future editions of Rapperholic.
