The Parliament of Ghana is set to open its first Parliamentary Museum to the public on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Located within the precincts of Parliament, the museum will give visitors an opportunity to learn about the history and development of Ghana’s parliamentary institution.
According to Parliament, the museum is a legacy project of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin, aimed at improving public understanding of Ghana’s parliamentary history and promoting greater engagement with the institution.
The museum will be open to the public from Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 4:30pm.
Its exhibits include historical photographs, parliamentary documents, records of past proceedings, artefacts and memorabilia of former Speakers, as well as archival materials covering the Legislative Council and key constitutional milestones in Ghana’s history.
Visitors will also find ceremonial and symbolic items associated with Parliament, together with interactive multimedia displays explaining the law-making process and the development of governance in Ghana.
The facility is expected to welcome different categories of visitors, including students, researchers, tourists, cultural enthusiasts, Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff.
For students and researchers, the museum will provide historical materials that can support the study of Ghana’s parliamentary and constitutional development.
Tourists and other cultural visitors will also have an additional heritage site where they can learn about Ghana’s democratic history.
Parliament said the museum will help preserve the institution’s memory while giving international partners and other legislatures an opportunity to learn about Ghana’s democratic heritage.
Members of the public who wish to visit the museum are required to book through Parliament’s official website by selecting “Visit,” followed by “Museum,” and completing the booking form.
Applicants will be notified once their requests have been approved.
