Stonebwoy Rejects Claims That Ghanaian Men Are ‘Stingy’

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has rejected the idea that Ghanaian men are stingy, saying their approach to spending is often based on their financial situation.

The musician made the comments during an appearance on Madam Joyce’s Cocktails and Takeaways podcast, where he discussed the perception of Ghanaian men and how they spend money on women.

Stonebwoy said the belief that Ghanaian men are unwilling to spend should instead be seen as their way of considering their finances before making certain decisions.

“Ghana boys are not stingy, we have seen the narrative you guys have been putting out there, now if you go on Google, it’s registered,” he said.

According to Stonebwoy, some Ghanaian men are described as stingy because they cannot meet financial demands that are beyond their means.

“I think to be very honest, ladies of today want men to spend weytin them no have,” he said.

He advised men to understand their financial limits and avoid making promises they cannot keep.

Stonebwoy also encouraged men who choose to spend money on their partners or loved ones to honour the commitments they make while being ready to deal with the financial consequences.

The dancehall artiste compared the spending habits of Ghanaian and Nigerian men, suggesting that Nigerian men are often more willing to take financial risks when spending on women.

He, however, stressed that spending on a partner is ultimately a personal decision that depends on an individual’s priorities, financial ability and willingness to accept the consequences.
