The sister of Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has shared details of a frightening incident in Lagos after her car was allegedly damaged by area boys who mistook her for the singer.
Saltiana Aderibigbe, popularly known as DJ Salt of Life, said the incident left her shaken because the attackers repeatedly shouted Ayra Starr’s name during the confrontation.
“They damaged my car yesterday and honestly it was so sad. And the fact that they kept shouting Ayra Starr made it even worse because they thought I was her,” she said in a post shared online.
According to DJ Salt, the incident reflects a growing problem in parts of Lagos where some groups allegedly demand money from motorists, especially those driving expensive vehicles.
She claimed that drivers who refuse to give them money sometimes face intimidation, threats or damage to their vehicles.
“Imagine, this is what happens now in Lagos once you drive a nice car. These area boys won’t let you go except you give them money. If you don’t give them, they might stone your car and break something. So basically, it’s by force,” she said.
DJ Salt also questioned how the situation could be brought under control and called for urgent action from the authorities.
