GMet Forecasts Thunderstorms and Rain in Parts of Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) says thunderstorms with rain are expected to continue across parts of northern Ghana this evening, while most parts of the country will experience mostly cloudy weather.

According to the weather forecast for Saturday, August 1, 2026, some areas in the transition and middle belts are also likely to receive rainfall from this evening into the night.

GMet says patches of mist are expected over some forest and mountainous areas early Sunday morning, which could reduce visibility for motorists and other road users.

The agency also expects relatively cool temperatures across the country during the night and early morning.

In southern and coastal Ghana, mostly cloudy conditions are expected in Aflao, Anloga, Accra, Kasoa, Winneba, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Axim, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kwahu Tafo, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Sefwi Bekwai. Ho is expected to experience light drizzle.

In the forest and transition zones, thunderstorms with possible rain are expected in Kete Krachi, Atebubu, Ejura, Kintampo, Sunyani and Techiman, while Goaso and Sampa are expected to remain mostly cloudy.

Northern Ghana is expected to experience thunderstorms with rain in Yendi, Tamale, Bole, Damongo, Bolgatanga, Nalerigu, Wa and Jirapa.

Meanwhile, the state of the sea is expected to remain calm.

The public, especially motorists, has been advised to be careful on the roads as reduced visibility and changing weather conditions could affect travel in some areas.
