Ghana has been placed in Pot 4 as FIFA prepares for the draw for the 2026 World Cup.
The draw, scheduled for December 5, 2025, in Washington, United States, will determine the group-stage opponents for all qualified nations.
So far, 42 of the 48 teams have secured their spots for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Aside from the host nations, all teams have been seeded based on the FIFA rankings released in November 2025.
With Ghana ranked among the lower-tier teams, the Black Stars have been placed in Pot 4, meaning they could face a challenging path. Six remaining places will be filled through playoffs in March 2026.
This placement puts Ghana at risk of drawing one of the top football nations, such as Spain, Argentina, France, England, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, Brazil, and others, all of whom are in Pot 1.
It is worth noting that countries from the same confederation will not be drawn against each other, except in the case of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Pot 1: Mexico (Group A), Canada (Group B), United States (Group D), Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, France, England, Netherlands, Portugal
Pot 2: Croatia, Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, Switzerland, Senegal, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Ecuador, Austria, Australia
Pot 3: Norway, Panama, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa
